Make Your Own VJacket
To make your own wearable controller, you will need an Arduino (we recommend the Bluetooth Arduino, to allow full freedom of movement!), sensors, and our open-source Arduino2OSC application.
- See our step-by-step tutorial on how to make the VShield on Instructables. The VShield is an Arduino shield that will allow you to connect many different types of sensors: bend sensors, piezo mics, linear potentiometers (ribbon sliders), etc. to the Arduino microcontroller.
- Attach the sensors to your jacket or other wearable. This slideshow presentation outlines some of the techniques we used to create a modular sensor system.
- Download the Arduino2OSC application here. If you do not have Max/MSP, you can still use the program! Either download the Max/MSP runtime from Cycling 74 or download the compiled application for Mac OS X.
- Configure the Arduino2OSC application to send OSC messages to your favorite audio or visual program. We have included an Arduino2OSC preset for Resolume Avenue.
